Nonprofit Winners Share How New Vehicles Are Making a Difference

When a homeless family receives low-income housing, they often need basic furniture and help carrying the few items they collected while in shelters. Last year, Family Promise of Grand Rapids helped move 30 families' belongings and donated home goods using a new Tundra the organization won in 2012 through Toyota's 100 Cars for Good philanthropic program. The Michigan-based organization helps homeless and at-risk families with children get back on their feet.

Laptops Are Favorite While Tablets Lag Behind

-APQC, the nonprofit leader in benchmarking and best practices research, has released results and an infographic from a recent survey on personal productivity in which it found that—by a large margin—laptops beat smartphones and tablets as the favorite device of survey respondents. Despite extensive media attention, tablets such as the iPad® or Nexus 10 have yet to capture respondents' hearts like the old warhorse laptop—only 17 percent of respondents chose the tablet as their favorite device or tool.

Sage for Nonprofit is Now Abila

If you're currently a Sage for Nonprofit user you already know who Abila is even if you haven't yet heard the name. I asked Krista Endsley, CEO of Abila about the genesis of the name. She pointed to the root word 'ability' and its Latin meaning. "Abila comes from the word ability which comes from the Latin word meaning 'the power to act.' That's what we are doing and why we are now Abila. We want to give our customers the ability to act."
