Big Data Predictive Analytics Comes to Nonprofit Institutions

Revolution Analytics, the only commercial provider of open source R software, today announced the launch of an Academic Institution Program and a Public Service Program. The new programs provide educational and nonprofit institutions with full access to Revolution R Enterprise (RRE), the company’s flagship Big Data predictive analytics software, for a yearly licensing fee of $999, which includes a license for unlimited users and general support. Blackbaud, Inc. released its Charitable Giving Report, featuring the sector’s first look at actual data showing how nonprofit fundraising performed in 2013, as well as commentary from experts in the field. The Report draws from The Blackbaud Index, which tracks $12.5 billion in U.S.-based charitable giving from more than 4000 organizations on a monthly basis to provide the largest analysis of overall and online giving trends in the nonprofit sector. Dejavoo Systems, a New York-based value added reseller (VAR), has selected DonateWiseNow® to be included in its next generation point-of sale devices.  The charity at checkout application, which enables consumers to make small donations to nonprofits while completing transactions with a credit or debit card, is now part of the packages Dejavoo offers its ISO and merchant clients.

Charitable Giving UP and PayPal Participates

Nationally, charitable giving in 2013 was likely to be up 12.5 percent over 2012, according to Atlas of Giving. That’s nearly double the increase from 2011 to 2012 and translates to about $415 billion in contributions. PayPal reports in its findings that mobile giving is on the rise by a factor of 34% year over year. It says that mobile giving is a significant component in this activity. Read more...
