Hatch for Good

hatchOne of your organization’s best assets is its stories. If you want to draw in donors and engage them all you have to do is share your stories, share the story of how your organization changed one person’s life or how your organization will change the world.

You know you have a story to tell, but maybe you are unsure of how to start that story, or how to broadcast that story to your current and potential donors. That is where Hatch for Good comes in, Hatch is supported by the Rockefeller Foundation. Currently, it is in a Beta version, but it is open for nonprofits to use and there is no cost to use it.  The goal of Hatch is to help nonprofit organizations tell their stories.

The hardest part of telling any story is getting started. Hatch connects your organization with all the tools you need. The website is divided into five parts, strategy, capacity, content, platform, evaluation.

Sign up for Hatch and begin creating your story. As you answer each of the questions your information is saved into your profile and the site offers suggestions and resources to help you. For example, in the strategy section it is about the big picture. You will answer question that help you determine your narrative and identify your audience. After you enter the name of your organization you can pick from a list of subjects to define your organization’s objectives.

Many of the questions present you with a list of choices to select from, some of the questions are open ended and allow you to fill in relevant information. The questions get progressively more in-depth as you go through each section.

Next Hatch will help you make storytelling a priority in your organization. Then use Hatch to help you set your storytelling goals and lay the groundwork for great stories.

The platform section will help your organization find the right platforms to tell your stories and how to connect with your audience. There are also tools to help you evaluate the effectiveness of your stories.
