Buffer: Easy Social Media Posting

bufferFrequently posting to social media helps you connect with your supporters, but it takes time to create those status updates and even more time to post them to the social media channels. 


One way to save time is to use Buffer. Buffer is a social media tool that helps you drive engagement by helping your broadcast your posts to your various social media channels. All from one application, Buffer can send your posts to Twitter, Facebook (pages, groups and profiles), Linkedin and Google+.  

Since Buffer will automatically spread your post throughout the day or week, you will have a solid social media presence, without being chained to the computer. Using Buffer, you will present a consistent message across all social media and save time. 

You create the posts ahead of time, then use the Buffer application send those posts at a frequency you choose, to your social media channels. You can select a post to go to all your channels or just one. 

Buffer shortens your links, and these shortened links allow them to provide analytics regarding how many clicks each post generated.  You can also get a shortened URL that is branded to your organization to help increase your brand awareness. Plus, you can use the @ function in the share box to mention people on Twitter, for other social media accounts it converts the @ mention to the full account name. 

Buffer works with Chrome, Safari or Firefox and they also have apps for iPhone and Android, so you can use the service on the go.

It is easy to set up an account. Once you have an account with Buffer, you will connect your various social media accounts to the Buffer service. After that, add what posts you want to share and when you want them to go out. If, for some reason, you need to stop your posts you can pause them in Buffer. 

You can even send your posts into Buffer via email. They offer built-in support for the email formats created by apps such as Twitter, Safari, Flipboard, Reeder, Pulse, and Zite.

Buffer is a pay-for service. Their plan rates vary depending on the number of social media account and how many posts you want to do per month.  They do offer a discount to non-profits.
