Review: Abila Grant Management
Chances are if you're in the nonprofit sector you've heard of Abila once or twice. Abila has surrounded themselves with team members that have over thirty years of experience. Therefore, they've made it easier for nonprofits to focus on what truly matters while leaving financial, accounting, and grant managing to them. In this review, we are going to focus strictly on Grant Management, a web-based grant receiving solution from Abila.
Brief Overview
You may have worked closely with other grant management systems, but didn't like them for one reason or another. Abila's program is unique in the sense that they it combines development, contact, and financial data to make it easier for nonprofits to gain access to grants and therefore, optimizing success.
As a nonprofit you're constantly applying for grants because grants are what fuels your organization. Abila's program can take on more than one grant at a time. Track the progress of your grants, include milestones, note important affiliations, and get reminded when a deadline is approaching so you don't miss out on a great opportunity. Furthermore, Abila's Grant Management system allows you to get up-to-date financial information so you know exactly what you have to spend and what you need to retain in order to keep your organization afloat in a secure environment.
In a nut-shell the grant management program allows your grant team the security and financial stability it needs to meet deadlines and get important grants to help your nonprofit thrive.
In Use
Abila's Grant Management program is used primarily by teams to manage grants throughout the application process including the grants they have already been awarded. What's so great about the program is that it's web based, allowing the grant team to access it from wherever they are in the world.
Grant managers can easily access the program to search for grants they might be interested in, which grants they have already been awarded, and when certain deadlines are approaching. They can also use the program to pull up specific reports they need to access. Abilia makes it easy for nonprofits to streamline their process and more easily deliver on their mission.
Technology Employed
The Grant Management program from Abila is a web-based program that works with both Macs and PCs. The grant team can easily access any information they need from anywhere in the world through an Internet connection. Whether they are using their cell phones, tablets, or computers, they can get up-to-date information about their grants.
Ease of Use, Configuration and Deployment
Abila provides professional services and training for new nonprofits. This includes set-up and configuration of the system, as well as user training. Being a web-based program, installation is fairly easy, but when problems do occur, Abila is there to answer any questions a user may have.

Nonprofits can track grants, enter milestones, and check finances all within this one web-based program. The program can be accessed anywhere in the world with an internet connection and on any device whether it's a tablet, cellphone or laptop and whether the user has Mac or PC devices.

My Opinion
As a journalist, you're constantly trying to get in touch with someone to do an interview, write a report, or simply as a question. When I contacted Abila, not only were they excited about the article, but they were willing to answer any question in a timely fashion. If this is anyway similar to how they run their business, then I think that their customers are in great hands. Not only are they enthusiastic about their company, but they're willing to go above and beyond to make sure their customers are having a positive experience with their programs.
Abila is on the right tract by introducing a web-based program that encompasses financial, accounting, and management of grants. Grants are a huge part of any nonprofit and this way nonprofits can easily access their data from virtually anywhere.
The only thing, that I am a bit wary of with Abila is that prices aren't listed anywhere on the website which tends to mean that it's expensive. Saying that, I believe Abila's Grant Management program is an investment. If your nonprofit is struggling to obtain or keep track of loans and grants, this may be a great investment regardless of the price or system requirements.
