Orange Leap - Review

Orange Leap is a, on-demand, web-based constituent and donation management solution for nonprofits. It is designed to track individual or organizational constituents in a user interface that is easy to learn. The system has been developed to enable quick data entry, with terminology that is easy to understand- or the terminology can be changed to match that used by the nonprofit. Context-appropriate navigation significantly decreases navigation-related confusion so that what used to take four or five steps often can be done in two or less. Orange Leap is also very customizable with the ability to modify, rename, or hide any screen or field based upon business requirements.

In Use

With Orange Leap, the end user has the ability to customize their constituent profile for more in-depth and personalized constituent tracking. The product is designed to track multiple relationships, including 'householding' with a very flexible contact manager. It has the ability to track all correspondence and payment history, along with a wide variety of notes and tasks. Tracking of donations and pledges is straightforward, and recurring gifts are easily managed with automated payment processing and user-friendly payment schedules that can be changed at a moment's notice.

The business rules engine will assist in automating many cumbersome and tedious processes that currently require many hours of staff time. For example, business rules can identify what type of donor a constituent is based on the nonprofit's definitions. It will then initiate the appropriate communications to send (for example a welcome letter, etc) in the format the constituent prefers--ie email or mail.

Technology Employed

Orange Leap is a cloud/SaaS product. Additionally Orange Leap on Demand is actually a "platform" which makes it highly flexible and customizable for specific customer/client needs.

Ease of Use, Configuration, and Deployment

The Orange Leap user interface and layout make it very easy for the user to find the information that they are looking for, as well as to quickly input or update existing data such as a gift, address, or payment. The implementation process is geared toward the client's needs and business requirements, which enables Orange Leap to be configured to their specifications. It is very for client to know their exact business requirement needs -- from the "big picture" down to the detail of what is needed to accomplish the "big picture".

Recap

Orange Leap on Demand is an innovative, robust, easy-to-use cloud-based solution designed to help nonprofts strengthen relationships with donors, volunteers, and other constituents. Orange Leap allows nonprofit professionals to spend time on building relationships with donors and key constituents and less time on administrative tasks.

The pricing is simple, $100 per user per month for the baseline solution with some slight additional charge for other functionality such as the On-Line Donor widget. The subscription pricing includes support and any new updates to the system. Initial implementation (set up, training and conversion) typically ranges from $4,000 to $20,000 depending on the level of complexity and the amount of data to be converted.

My Opinion

Orange Leap seems to have been designed with simplicity in mind, and the goal is to allow nonprofit professionals to spend less time on administrative tasks and more on actually working toward the organization's mission. I appreciate the open and collaborative aspect of how the organization works. The flexibility of the product also makes it a good choice for organizations that need to customize their CRMs for a good fit.
