Food For The Poor Selects Information Builders for Improved Operational Efficiency

As the number-one international relief and development charity in the United States, Food For The Poor feeds about two million people every day, with more than 96 percent of all donations going directly toward programs that serve the poor.  The organization, however, is always looking for ways to be more efficient. That’s why it turned to independent business intelligence (BI) leader Information Builders to standardize reporting and monitoring on the WebFOCUS BI platform.

"We were looking for a BI platform that could give us real-time access to information so that our executives could gain a stronger understanding of the data and turn it into actionable information," said Vickie Torregrossa, IS director, Food For The Poor. "We’ve been thrilled with the way that WebFOCUS has already improved our efficiency and how it provides our executives with visibility into tracking the progress of financial information month-over-month and year-over-year."

As an established 501 (c)(3) corporation serving more than countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, Food For The Poor is concerned with efficiently tracking and reporting on data. With WebFOCUS, the organization can automatically track donations and send real-time reports on a daily basis. Reports that used to take hours are now run in minutes. The system's ease-of-use allows executives to obtain critical operational information with little to no assistance.

"Every minute wasted on manual reporting at a non-profit organization is time lost contributing to the greater good," said Gerald Cohen, president and CEO of Information Builders. "By standardizing on WebFOCUS, Food For The Poor is improving operational efficiency across the board and is better able to focus efforts on its mission."
