Green Valley-based nonprofit MySecureKid is encouraging kids to explore the potential of working in tech. Founded in 2018, MySecureKid connects children and teens with programming, apprenticeships and mentors to help launch them into tech career paths. Quiana Gainey and JaLisa Johnson, the founders of MySecureKid, are focused on supporting children from underrepresented backgrounds. Despite the projected job growth of more than 13% in cybersecurity and technology, a “knowledge gap” is holding back Black and Hispanic people, as well as people with disabilities, from taking advantage of these opportunities.

This experience has led to a realization among funders that their grantee partners must be facing even more difficulty in terms of IT. The Technology Association of Grantmakers (TAG) has recently issued a report outlining best practices for supporting grantees' IT needs. According to the report, funders should focus on the long-term sustainability of IT investments, as well as the need for grantees to have access to the latest technology. The report also emphasizes the importance of providing grantees with the necessary training and support to ensure their success.

School payment platform Cheddar Up has recently unveiled the deep results of its nationwide fundraising survey, which was conducted to gain insights into the fundraising habits of parents and teachers. The survey revealed that the majority of parents and teachers prefer to use digital payment platforms for fundraising activities, with more than 70% of respondents indicating that they would prefer to use a digital platform over traditional methods. The survey also found that the majority of respondents are comfortable with using digital payment platforms, with more than 80% indicating that they feel comfortable using digital payment platforms for fundraising activities. The survey also revealed that the majority of respondents are willing to use digital payment platforms for a variety of fundraising activities, including school trips, sports teams, and other school-related activities. The survey was conducted by Cheddar Up and can be found on their website.
