Get Ready for Summer Fundraising Events Featured

Get Ready for Summer Fundraising Events Raphaël Biscaldi

The summer comes with new opportunities to take advantage of, and amazing weather for outdoor fundraising events. Although the winter is often the best time to fundraise, summertime can equally get you the money you require for your nonprofit. Since donors are usually on vacation during summer, you have to step up your game to make the most out of your fundraising events.

Here are just a few creative ways that can make a difference during this time:

  • Beach Volleyball

There are many ways you can enjoy the summer sun and sand, but beach volleyball is arguably the best. Organize a tournament and ask the teams willing to take part to fundraise to enter the competition. Look for a convenient place where you can carry out your match without disturbance and make some money. Offer some incentives and prizes to participants to motivate them. Nonprofits such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth have successfully used this approach before to raise money for their organization.

  • Host a barbecue extravaganza

All of us love barbecues, right? Not literarily all of us but most of us. During summer, barbecues are an excellent way of attracting a crowd and is also a family-friendly idea. There are many ways you can fundraise using a barbecue extravaganza. You can decide to sell barbecue plates, do auctions, or even sell drinks. During eating, you can organize craft beer tasting, eating, or grilling competitions. Make some money by charging a small amount for these events. Source additional sponsors to make it more productive and beneficial to the cause you are fundraising for. Excite potential attendees by updating them on your social media platforms.

  • Host a pool party

Like beach parties, pool parties can be entertaining and productive when used to fundraise for a specific cause. It is simple because all you have to do is strike a deal with a hotel to support the cause you are championing for then look for supporters and participants. Charge a small entry fee and look for events that your audience will love. You can arrange a basketball tournament, a volleyball game or even swimming competitions. Other games you may consider are underwater scavenger hunt and floatie race. Look for partners such as local businesses to help award prizes for winners in a given competition.

  • Summer field day

Old-fashioned summer field days are still a favourite of many parents who see it as an opportunity to take their kids out and have fun. With a few tweaks, you can get some money for your nonprofit. Request a minimum donation and host classic events such as sack races, water balloon toss, and tug-of-war to make the event interesting to the participants. Give prizes to the winners. Although summer field days are mainly associated with the kids, they can be tweaked to accommodate adults.

  • Come up with a crowdfunding campaign

Although crowdfunding is a popular fundraising method for any time of the year, it is more effective in the summer because it can be combined with other events such as barbecue parties, concerts, or walkathons. Another good thing about crowdfunding campaigns is that they are free and therefore inexpensive if you use them to raise money. When setting up a crowdfunding campaign for your nonprofit, ensure that you include visuals that will encourage your supporters to donate and share them with their friends and family. Make your cause known and understood, and ensure that the work that the money raised will do is known. Use social media platforms to reach out to people. If possible, print newsletters, send emails and use the local press to spread the word.
